Content: Solace is a charity which provides counselling and psychotherapy to asylum seekers and refugees in the Yorkshire region, many of whom have been traumatised by torture, rape and all the ugly consequences of war and persecution. Most of the counselling is one-to-one, working with trained interpreters in about two thirds of the counselling sessions that take place. We also have an Advocacy worker and a Complementary Therapist. We will shortly be offering group therapy.Content: Describes the work of Solace and details its practical day to day process with asylum seekers. Looks at roots of psychotherapeutic problems encountered in asylum seekers. Talks about the symptoms of continual anxiety and references this to the process of the asylum system.
