Indigenous Australia: The Tent.
The beginning of the day. 01
Inside the tent in Musgrave Park where it all began. The people had been gathering all morning, wandering about the park saying hello to family, friends and strangers alike. This was the start of a very big day.
After more than two hundred years of abuse and being "the outsiders" the City of Brisbane was going to give the keys of the city to the indigenous elders. Maybe there was too much pain to heal in one simple ceremonious gesture but Jim Soorely had seen that in this ceremony was a beginning which said that the indigenous people were part of the city of Brisbane.
