Davey and Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary Chris Huhne have written to Home Secretary Jackie Smith and Foreign Secretary David Milliband requesting release from detention of all Zimbabwean asylum seekers in the UK;all failed Zimbawean asylum seekers to be given special leave to remain; all Zimbabwean asylum seekers to be allowed to work. His party supports recent government efforts on behalf of Zimbabwe internationally at UN, EU and G8 but Gordon Brown needs to act now allow Zimbaweans in this country to work so that they can prepare themselves for return and rebuilding.
