North Rift Human Rights Network
North Rift Human Rights Network is a non-profit, voluntary human rights organization that was formed in 2006 and was legally registered in the same year as a community based organization to promote, protect and enhance principles of non-discrimination, human rights, rule of law, right to freedom of opinion and expression for North Rift region people and to create a culture of peace through education and training with a special focus on monitoring, networking and dissemination. The North Rift region comprises of the Districts of Marakwet, West Pokot, Turkana, East Pokot, Nandi North, Nandi South, Baringo North and Baringo South. The organization conducts monitoring of human rights violations of women and men and girls, education programs aimed at raising awareness of human rights in the North Rift region, peace building and conflict resolution. The organization also mobilizes human rights organizations in the North Rift region on key and emerging human rights issues of national importance.
