<p>The playing field here is not level – and the consumer inadequately protected – the FSA has partly failed in its role – one reason is that the FSA cannot pay the kinds of salaries that the product innovators can earn elsewhere – the result has been damage from ‘financial mechanisms of mass destruction’ – the clear conclusion is that change is urgently needed in the regulatory mechanism – or the whole pattern could recur in the near future</p>
