<p>Now the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.jrf.org.uk">Joseph Rowntree Foundation</a> has updated the MIS based on very wide consultation with low income people – many statutory benefits and incomes are well below the minimum required for healthy and safe living – in particular the health of children depends on the standard of nutrition of mothers from puberty onward – inadequate incomes generate massive lifetime costs for the NHS and impact on educational standards and crime levels</p>
