<p>Stephen discusses Community Land Trusts and how they work. Here we have an expert view on a very complex issue. What of Community Land Trusts (CLTs)? – is this a way of squeezing out land price speculation and keeping the value uplift in public/community hands – it is one way to help produce genuinely affordable housing – and using a principle which should be much more widespread – it is the local authority’s legal duty to ensure that housing really is locally affordable (see part 2 of ‘No Place Like Home’) – not that this happens!</p>
