<p>Stephen discusses lending models. He expresses concern that none of the UK political parties appear to be grasping this particular nettle and gives insight into what needs to happen. The problem at the moment is a complete drying up of credit generally – a drastic over-correction - the locally based ‘building society’ model has been lost – the two major US mutual lending institutions were privatised and ‘lost their way’ – the remaining US public lender (Ginnie May) continues to behave responsibly and is attracting a flow of new money.</p>
