<p>Adrian Cooper describes the problem with houses being viewed as investment vehicles rather than homes. He reveals some of the problems behind such basic foundation of policy and Stephen Hill concurs. Adrian Cooper explains that Team Ltd’s objective is to build quiet defect-free homes – this requires a holistic understanding of the market – ‘you have to see the whole pond’ – proper research is key – it is crucial to separate out use value from exchange value, itself blown out of proportion by the flood of lending – Stephen Hill reports that the Home Builders Federation (HBF) view is that simply ‘more of the same and less regulation’ will solve the problem – the section 106 model is simply not working – despite many Government measures which do not really grasp the issues – this is a Government failure of vision.</p>
